Discover the city of Les Sables d’Olonne
Only a few kilometers from your Sun Océan campsite in Talmont Saint Hilaire, discover the city of Les Sables d’Olonne. Now bringing together the former communes of Château d’Olonne, Olonne sur Mer and Les Sables d’Olonne, this new commune is the second largest city in the Vendée.
Let’s start with a little tour with our feet in the sand. Among its many beaches, you will find the one you need : Petite cale, Paracou, Sauveterre, les Granges, le Bassin d’Ombret and Tanchet. To the delight of families, all are supervised from June or July. And on each one, find a colored flag raised to indicate the level of risk to swimming (green, yellow or red).
For young and old, go to the Beach Animation Point located near the first aid post on the large beach, for all sorts of activities and games : beach volleyball, beach soccer or loan of beach equipment (nets, ping-pong tables…).
Then, let’s make a stopover to the ports. Three ports are accessible in Les Sables d’Olonne. The marina, where the Vendée Globe takes place every four years, is the leading port for nautical events on the Atlantic coast. No wonder with its 666 seats !
Very pleasant to see, do not hesitate to make a turn there and to lose you among its splendid boaters.
To enjoy boats in motion rather than moored, head to the fishing port. Close to the city center, this port is alive all day long. In front of it, you will see the commercial port and its more impressive ships.
All summer long, vibrate to the rhythm of the evening concerts on the embankment of Sables d’Olonne. Once the night falls, the embankment comes alive and makes you dance. You will find the program on the website of the commune.
